THE Court of Appeals-Mindanao (CA-Mindanao) today will celebrate their first anniversary with an Open House and a dialogue between CA-Division Clerks of Court and Regional Trial Court (RTC) Clerks of Court.

CA-Mindanao executive justice Mme. Justice Teresita Dy-Liaco Flores said though Supreme Court Chief Justice Hilario Davide, Jr. and Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who were around during the formal opening of CA-Mindanao last year, still their first year anniversary would be attended by several dignitaries including Court of Appeals acting presiding justice Godardo Jacinto.

“We have also invited several representatives from the different local government units here in Mindanao to thank them for their unselfish and unstinting support,” she told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

The Mindanao Station, composed of the 21^st, 22^nd and 23^rd Divisions of the Court of Appeals, was created pursuant to Republic Act No. 8246 with the view of bringing the Court closer to the people and bringing justice to the persons who need it most.

Justice Flores said, as part of their first anniversary celebration today, the CA-Mindanao would “like to present itself to the people of Mindanao as an institution that is up and running and fulfilling its mandate of bringing justice and peace to the people.”

She said this, as their anniversary theme: Korte nga Katarungan, Kasangkapan ng Kayapaan.

The day’s programme starts with a Thanksgiving Mass at 7:30 a.m. with the Philippine National Anthem to be played by the Philippine Army Band. Tree-Planting activities will immediately follow highlighting the Court’s commitment to the environmental protection.

An Overture by the Philippine Army Band would signal the start of the Official Ceremonies where Mme. Justice Teresita Dy-Liaco Flores, Executive Justice of the Court of Appeals-Mindanao Station, will give the welcoming remarks. Mr. Justice Godardo A. Jacinto, acting presiding justice of the Court of Appeals, will be the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Master of Ceremonies would be Justice Romulo Borja, former dean of Xavier University College of Law.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Court of Appeals will be declared an “Open House” seven major presentations: Delays: Causes and Avoidance; Technical Dismissals: Are you the culprit?; Case Status Tracking and Management: Our In-House IT; ADR – The Parallel Road; Branch Clerks of Court: Keys to Speedy Disposition; Inquiries? We are just a phone call away!; and Getting to Know this Court.

Justice Flores said the public can have a tour of the court premises and view various audio-visual presentations about the court, its functions, processes, work and vision, and other matters that will be of interest to lawyers, litigants and kibitzers alike.

Also, around 10:30 to 11:00 in the same morning, a two-session dialogue will be held between CA-Division Clerks of Court and Regional Trial Court (RTC) Clerks of Court. By Lizanilla J. Amarga (2006)
