Two separate gruesome murders rocked this city and its neighboring town Opol, Misamis Oriental early morning yesterday.
The first victim sustained no less than 15 stab wounds resulting to the spilling-out of his entrails among other injuries while the other victim had his neck sliced resulting to his head barely hanging from his body.
Police officers from the Agora police station under SPO4 Waylin Rojo reported that while conducting their early morning patrol along Osmeña St. Extension 2:17 a.m. yesterday they found an unidentified man lying unconscious with blood all over the area.
Initial police investigation revealed that this unidentified victim was heard begging his assailants to spare his life saying, “Ayaw ko ninyo patya…maluoy mo duna pakoy pamilya nga gibuhi (Please do not kill me…have pity on me I still have a family to feed).”
Witnesses whom the police officers interviewed disclosed how the victim was only walking along the Osmeña Street near the National Highway when three unidentified men suddenly accosted him and attacked him.
The Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) records revealed that the victim’s body was rushed to its emergency room around 2:32 a.m. and was later declared dead around 3:45 a.m. yesterday.
“Gidunggab sa tiyan milabas iyang tinae (He was stabbed on his stomach and his entrails came out),” SG E.A. Masin wrote in his NMMC log entry.
As of press time yesterday, police authorities claimed that they now have a list containing the names of the three murder suspects even as they admitted that they still do not have the identity of the dead victim.
The body of this unidentified victim was brought to the Bollozos Funeral Homes where its receptionist Lilet Naong told this paper noon yesterday that no one has yet claimed the former’s mutilated body.
Meanwhile, Ronnie Padasan 22 years old and a resident of Barangay Awang, Opol, Misamis Oriental surrendered to the Opol Police Station yesterday confessing to how he killed Romulo Manilla.
Over a dxIF Bombo Radyo, Padasan narrated how he and his 36 year old brother Chareto Padasan were heading home from working on their fields when they encountered Romulo Manilla at around 2:30 in the afternoon Thursday.
He said Manilla addressed his brother and provoked the latter to lose his temper. A fight ensued with Manilla’s friends joining into the fray.
“Gitabangan man mi nila mao ako natigbasan si Romulo Manilla… (Manilla and his friends ganged-up against us and that was why I used the long curved-knife against Romulo Manilla),” he said adding how he immediately fled the scene.
Padasan said he surrendered to the police as he feared that Manilla’s relatives and friends might seek vengeance against him.
NMMC records show that the Pandasan brothers arrived for medical attention around 10:15 p.m. Thursday night.
