More PaDAyon barangay captains abandon Emano – Salcedo

65-YEAR OLD EMANO SPEAKS. But opposition doubts the aging political kingpin will still have that much political clout as more and more are joining the 27 barangay captains who are making an exodus out of the PaDayon Pilipino political party.

The number of barangay chairpersons who are making an exodus out of the ruling PaDayon Pilipino political party under Vice-Mayor Vicente Emano and now joining First District Cong. Rolando Uy is now snowballing.

As news of how 27 barangay chairpersons had left Emano’s fold broke out last week, there are now reports that more and more PaDayon Pilipino from this city’s 24 barangays in the First District and 56 others in the Second District are jumping to Uy’s camp.

Gusa Barangay chairperson Enrico Salcedo disclosed yesterday afternoon that more and more barangay chairpersons from the PaDayon Pilipino are now calling him and the 15 other barangay chairpersons to join the exodus from Emano’s party.

“Pero dili lang nila usa ipasaba ilang ngalan kay layo paman(But they have requested me not to divulge their names just yet as the elections is still far),” he told this paper.

Gold Star Daily also received a call yesterday afternoon from a barangay chairperson who disclosed how there are now some seven PaDayon Pilipino from the Second District’s 40 urban barangays who are also fed up of Emano’s politics and now want to join Uy.

This barangay chairperson said, “Kung wala na ganahi ang among mga kauban nga silang Kapitan Salcedo ni Dongkoy nga sila ang duol-duol ni Emano samot na kami nga dili gyud duol sa luwag.”

Emano had made it clear earlier that anyone who joins Uy is no longer a member of the PaDayon Pilipino saying that he has made it clear how Uy is his political enemy now.

For his part, former president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) and PaDayon Pilipino party stalwart City Councilor Alexander Dacer maintained that their political group is still going strong.

“Besides, adto naman gyud ni mahibaloan sa kinatapusan (we will know more about this on the last days),” he told this paper.

Earlier, Dacer named four barangay chairpersons from the First District whose loyalties are wavering but voiced confidence that this is something their party can iron out later.

But Salcedo said Dacer knows only of four but there are actually more barangay chairpersons from the First District who are now poise to exit PaDayon Pilipino and join Uy.

“Upat ra iyang nahibaloan pero duna pay daghan (Dacer only knows of four but there are actually more than that number),” he said.

Salcedo admitted that he and Uy together with their supporters are already glad with the turn of events.

This even as they have yet to finally declare that majority of PaDayon Pilipino barangay chairpersons had abandoned Emano and now aligned with their camp.

“Kay kini sila nagbalhin lang ug ilaha. Wala pa gani gyud molihok sila Cong. Uy ug ang mga dagko gyud nga politiko…unsa na kaha unya kung molihok na gyud sila?,” he said. (By Lizanilla J. Amarga)
