Victim’s kins call for independent investigation vs. Bacal

The family members of the 15-year Junrie “Babay” Balingit who was killed by a vehicle driven by City Councilor Alden Bacal are calling for an “independent investigation” on the entire incident.

This as they pointed out how Bacal has not even showed up but instead started denying some circumstances surrounding the incident and how PaDayon Pilipino titular head and Vice-Mayor Vicente Emano is protecting the city councilor and partymate.

But Emano earlier said in a radio interview that he has already ordered an investigation on the whole incident.

Even if Bacal is a partymate and a city councilor, he said efforts should be exerted to finding out the truth on the whole incident.

Bacal for his part said he is ready to face any investigation, if he be found guilty, he is also ready to face the penalty.

He added that he is also willing to help out the victim and the latter’s family in any way he can.

But the the victim’s parents Gerardo Balingit, Jr. and Regie Balingit as well as the victim’s grandfather Gerardo Balingit, Sr. are not satisfied.

They vowed to seek for justice for the death of their beloved who was fondly called “Babay” in their home and by closed friends.

They voiced hopes that the proper authorities who cannot be bought would help them out.

Regie said Bacal should not only owe up to having just liquor in his body system when he rammed his maroon Toyota Revo with plate number number KCJ-161 on her son and killing the teenager.

For her, Bacal should also admit to the how he failed to stick to his right side of the road as seen by witnesses that 5:50 in the morning Thursday.

“Si Kagawad Bacal pasaka man siya mintras ang akong anak nagpadaplin sa kalsada pana-og pero iya gihapon kini nabanga-an,” she said.

Regie said Bacal should not be a coward and face her and their family on why he did not at least help her son and brought Babay to the hospital immediately but ran instead to Emano for help and to be put under protective custody.

According to her, Bacal did not even exert any effort to have the whole incident put on record at the nearest police station and that it was them who had to do it.

“Kung wala pa kadto ma-trace ang kinsa ang tag-iya sa sakyanan dili kami makabalo nga si Kagawad Bacal diay ang nakaligis sa akong anak,” she said.

She added that Bacal should be investigated and then subjected to the full force of the law without regard of his being a city councilor and under the custody of Emano.
