Three witnesses filed their sworn statements against City Councilor Alden Bacal at the City Prosecutors Office yesterday, Atty. James Judith said yesterday.
The statements were in connection to the case of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide with damage to property that Bacal is facing for the death of 15-year old Junrey Balingit at Upper Dagong, Carmen this city last July 10, 2008.
Bacal’s lawyer former vice-mayor Atty. Henry Bacal said he cannot as yet give any comment regarding these affidavits submitted by the three witnesses as he has yet to receive a copy of them.
However, City Councilor Bacal himself earlier admitted that he is ready to face any responsibility despite how the incident was an accident.
Judith, who is the lawyer for the Balingit family, said the three witnesses include 15-year old Maricar Amper, Reynaldo Perol and Velio.
He said Amper was the classmate of Balingit who saw how Bacal drove the vehicle that hit and killed the young victim.
Judith said Perol is a volunteer lamppost switcher along the SM road who saw at that time saw Bacal’s vehicle from the distance and what the victim Balingit was doing before the accident happened.
The third witness, he said is Velio, a bystander and resident of the area who was one of the two who helped pull Bacal out from his upturned vehicle.
Judith said the affidavits of these witnesses are aimed to boost the criminal complaint filed by the victim’s mother Regie Balingit.
“Especially as they are now trying to muddle everything even questioning the identity of the driver who drove and killed Junrey,” he said.
