Jealous husband kills wife, commits suicide

Cagayan de Oro City First District Cong. Rolando Uy’s niece and information officer Diane Rose Lagamon was shot dead by her husband Stephen Lagamon at their own residence at Adoracion Compound, Macanhan this city around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Carmen police station officer SPO1 Francisco Carmelo said the neighbors heard the Lagamon spouses having a heated argument and then three loud shots followed.

He said Stephen used a .38 caliber pistol to shot his wife Diane on her chest and head and then Stephen himself swallowed the barrel of the same gun and committed suicide.

He added that they are investigating the whole incident for any foul play, but so far, their initial probe showed that the whole incident was motivated by jealousy on the part of the husband.

The body of the Lagamon spouses are now at the Bollozos Funeral Homes with both sides of the family voicing grief and disbelief on what happened.

Bobong, the younger brother of Diane Rose Lagamon, and some relatives voiced convictions over dxIF Bombo Radyo that Stephen Lagamon who worked as a technician in an appliance center in Bukidnon already planned the whole incident.

They said Stephen already expressed his jealousy on how Diane goes around mingling with media practitioners and that this was aggravated by a text message that Diane received that night of the incident that then triggered the heated altercation.

Bobong said he is convinced that the incident was premeditated because, at that same night of the incident, Stephen asked him to do an errand for him.

According to him, he could have stopped the whole incident if only he was with the Lagamon spouses at that night.
