Two helicopters of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) were forced to make an emergency landing at a stockyard located at Barangay Lapasan this city late Sunday afternoon.
Agora Police Precinct investigator PO2 Faustino Casinas said the local residents were surprised when both military choppers suddenly landed at a spacious area located adjacent to the JTA Junkshop.
He said police officers who also saw and received reports on the entire incident rushed to the scene.
Casinas told dxIF Bombo Radyo that the pilots of the two PAF choppers thought it safer to just make an emergency landing than weather out the heavy rains and strong winds brought about by the bad weather.
He said no one actually got hurt from the whole incident and that the military choppers just flew off after the heavy rain and strong winds subsided.
PAF Ltc. Jose Maria Cuerpo confirmed the whole incident saying that the two UH-1H helicopters were actually coming from an operational run and were heading home from the Lanao areas where it delivered supplies to the soldiers.
He said the helicopter pilots were experiencing almost zero visibility and waited for the strong winds and heavy rains to subside before finding their way to their airport at Lumbia this city.
“But it was not an emergency landing. It was that they just waited for the clouds to clear up,” he said.
