Two men were separately reported to have died due to the excitement brought by the boxing fight between WBC Lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao against Oscar dela Hoya.

Both Lout Gary Ocot here in Cagayan de Oro City and a certain Santos Pangatugan, Sr. in Lapu-Lapu City were reported by Bombo Radyo to have separately experienced heart attacks and were declared dead because of the boxing fight last Sunday.

The reports revealed that Ocot who was a resident of Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental was allegedly with his wife at SM Mall last Sunday to purposely watch the “Dream Match” when he experienced severe chest pains during the Fourth Round of the Pacquiao-dela Hoya boxing fight.

Ocot was immediately rushed to the Madonna Child Hospital at Carmen this city but he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors there.

In Lapu-Lapu City , P01 Jomar Ortes of the Lapu-Lapu Police Station reported that Pangatunan who was 80 years old and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City suffered from chest pains during the third round of the Pacquiao-dela Hoya boxing fight.

He said members of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) who were also watching the boxing match immediately tried to help Pangatunan.

He added that Pangatunan was then rushed the latter to the Mactan Doctors Hospital but it was too late to save him.

Ortes said the Pangatunan family is now grieving the death of their beloved even as they were glad that the country’s own Pacquiao won last Sunday’s fight.
