2 fire incidents in CDO, damages reached P1.1M

One of the rooms in a local hotel as well as seven houses were damaged and even reduced to ashes during two separate fire incidents in the city last Sunday resulting to P1.1 million in damages.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-10) fire officer Noel Carretas told Gold Star Daily yesterday that around 11:24 p.m. Sunday they received a call from a certain Mariel Balido reporting that Room 101 of Discovery Hotel at Osmeña-Floretina Street was on fire.

He said they immediately rushed to the area and was able to contain the fire that would have devoured the whole establishment.

“Our fire investigators are still in the area to determine what actually caused the incident,” he said adding that so far the estimated damage was placed at P200,000.00.

Meanwhile, another fire incident that razed seven houses also occurred last Sunday early evening at Ramonal Village, Camaman-an this city.

In radio interviews, City Fire Marshall Major Benigno Amomonpon, Jr. estimated the damage to amount to around P900,000.00.

He said their initial investigations revealed that the fire started at the residence of Manuel Agan.

He added that they believe the fire could have been caused by faulty electrical wirings that short circuited.

The other residences that were affected by the fire incident include: Felisardo Torayno, Luz Baculio, Lilia Abucayon, Ernesto Badajos, Landa Mantala and Dorica Babarin.
