P7 million robbed from Chinese jewelry trader

Around P7 million in cash, expensive jewelries and bank checks were carted away by six unidentified men from a Chinese jewelry trader yesterday morning at a lodging house located at the Cogon area this city.

Cogon Police Precinct investigator PO3 Nolasco Gaabucayan told Gold Star Daily that their initial investigation revealed that Chinese national Que Shin Hong stayed at Goodnews Inn Room 209 last Monday night from his business trip in Ozamiz City .

He said the victim was unaware that he was being followed by six unidentified men with one of them registering in the inn’s log book as a certain Jay Pacatan from Malaybalay Bukidnon that same night.

Gaabucayan said it was not until around 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning that the six suspects with .45 caliber pistols moved in coordination with each other.

He said two of the suspects stormed the victim’s quarters and robbed the latter of his valuables while the two others waited at the front desk and disarmed the security guard of the latter’s own .38 caliber pistol.

Also, the other two suspects were ready and waiting outside with two single motorcycles with unknown plate numbers to complete their getaway.

Gaabucayan said it was only around 8:45 a.m. yesterday that they received a phone call that there was a commotion at Goodnews Inn.

He said SPO1 Rogelio Tenio, PO3 Abdul Pimentel and PO1 Okit immediately rushed to the above establishment but the unidentified suspects were already gone.

He added that they are still conducting an investigation on the case.

In a radio interview, the Chinese national said he had P20,000 in his wallet while P40,000 was in his attache case which also contained around P7 million in expensive jewelries and bank checks.
