Lumbia Cop shot dead in Agora KTV Bar

A police officer was brutally murdered by an unidentified man at a videoke bar in Agora, Lapasan this city Monday evening.

PO1 Ashley Villarico, 35, was shot six times while having a drink with friends at Sunrise Videoke Bar located along 42 Mambato Road , Agora around 8:00 p.m. Monday.

Agora Police Station records revealed that a “concerned citizen” reported the shooting incident and that P/Insp. Gilbert Mijares Rollen immediately rushed to the scene.

The records say that he conducted pursuit operations but was too late to catch the suspect.

Villarico was brought to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) but later succumbed to the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained and was declared dead by attending physicians around 9:00 p.m. The victim was later brought to the Bollozos Funeral Homes.

PO2 Noel Perpetua, the Agora Police Station police officer assigned to investigate the case, said they conducted an ocular inspection on the videoke bar and interviewed witnesses.

He said witnesses described the suspect as a medium-built man sporting a black jacket and a handkerchief around the lower half of his face.

Also, witnesses said the suspect used a .45 caliber pistol and shot Villarico several times then left off using an XRM motorcycle.

Perpetua said they were able to recover six empty shells and three slugs from the crime scene and have submitted it to their crime laboratory.

He said they have also conducted a background investigation on Villarico whom they found out as a married man residing at Barangay Bugo this city but was assigned at Lumbia Police Station this city.

Perpetua said they are now looking at three angles as to who might be behind Villarico’s brutal shooting.

“But we cannot reveal any of them as it might compromise our investigations,” he said in the dialect.

Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office director Isagani Genabe, Jr. told Gold Star Daily that he has now asked his men to leave no stone unturned in their investigation.
