The camps of mayoral candidates Atty. Berchman Abejuela, Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano and Rolando “Klarex” Uy kept their cool over reports that local independent bets are consolidating forces under their rival, independent mayoral candidate Jasper Uy.

Abujuela, the Liberal Party’s mayoral bet, said Jasper Uy’s would still redound to the benefit of the voters.

“More voters would know that they have more candidates to chose from,” he said.

Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino – PaDayon Pilipino leaders First District city councilor Dante Pajo and Second District city councilor Alexander Dacer agree that, even if Jasper Uy would be able to consolidate the independent candidates it would still amount to nothing.

Pajo said Jasper Uy’s efforts would not be able to make much of a dent over Vice-Mayor Emano’s “sure-win” in the coming 2010 local and national elections.

“Bisan pa gani ug maghiusa ang pwersa ni Klarex Uy ug ni Jasper Uy dili sila ka pilde ni Emano,” Dacer said.

Lakas-Kampi First District Congressman Rolando “Klarex” Uy’s spokesperson Gusa Barangay chairman Enrico Salcedo merely scoffed at reports that Jasper Uy is trying to forge alliances with the other independent candidates.

This despite how Cong. Uy has actually took the time and effort to file a nuisance case against Jasper Uy for “trying to make a mockery” out of the May 2010 poll race.

“Wala man gani kami mahadlok kang Dongkoy Emano si Jasper Uy lang ba?,” Salcedo said.

However, independent city councilor candidates Rogelio “Jigs” Jaraula said he would not be joining Jasper Uy’s coalition slate.

Also, Atty. Antonio Zoilo Velez, one of the Liberal Party city councilor bets for Second District who was also eyed by independent candidate Atty. Casiano Gamotin to join their forces with Jasper Uy, is also firm in remaining with his party.

The former Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Misamis Oriental chapter president said he filed his certificate of candidacy under the Liberal Party and he remains loyal to their camp.

Nevertheless, Jasper Uy is still in Manila securing the support of presidential candidate Sen. Manuel Villar of the Nacionalista Party who do not have his own party slate here in Cagayan de Oro city.
